JOB DESCRIPTION
Mission and objectives
WHO Country Office Kuwait inaugurated in June 2021 is mandated to support the Ministry of Health and other national institutions in meeting the targets of the Sustainable Development Goal 3 aiming to improve health and well-being for all at all ages. The CO is engaged in supporting country partners with technical assistance in specialized health topics in accordance with country support plans developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health. Additional areas of support include the implementation of capacity-building initiatives, multisectoral action plans, and the establishment of platforms to meet advocacy goals and forge dialogue around health issues of national priority with consideration to the UN guiding principles of inclusivity, equity, gender equality, respect, and dignity for all.
Context
The Host Office is in charge to fund and put necessary reasonable accommodation measures that may be required.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Public Health Officer (PHO) and overall guidance of the WHO Representative (WR), the UN Volunteer will perform the following duties: 1. Review incoming correspondence and ensure routing to responsible officer, attaching background documents and highlighting areas requiring action; draft replies on general and administrative matters; ensure outgoing correspondence and reports conform to WHO standards; develop tracking tools to follow up target dates and deadlines.
2. Create and/or maintain filing systems and ensure updated information; obtain documents and information from in-house and external sources and perform information search as required.
3. Coordinate administrative preparation for meetings, seminars, workshops, ensuring all necessary documents and travel requests are sent to participants; Schedule meetings and prepare minutes.
4. Perform other related dutes as required or instructed, including providing support to other areas of work.

Age: 18 – 80
Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in secretarial/finance/clerical/administrative work.
Excellent oral and written skills in Arabic and English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range
of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

Kuwait is known for its hot, dry climate with some humid days and frequent summer sandstorms however, the weather is very agreeable in the winter with plenty of outdoor activities. Generally, Kuwait enjoys good weather between October and April. The country is known to be a melting pot of cultures with an approximate 70% expatriate population working in the public and private sectors. Generally, Kuwait is a safe country however, care and vigilance is always recommended everywhere. The country is also not very walkable with an unreliable public transport system thus it is recommended that a mode of transport (e.g. taxi/car) is secured for commuting.
The Kuwaiti dinar is a highly valued currency in the world, the population of citizens and residents enjoy a tax-free income with access to subsidized energy resources and affordable food options. Many religions coexist in Kuwait with Islam being the official religion of Kuwait, thus modesty in the dress code is embraced and abstinence from consuming and selling alcohol and pork products is to be expected.
Kuwait is a small country of around 4.4 million, with 52% of the population between 25 and 54 years old. Most cities largely comprise commercial and residential districts with plentiful access to convenience stores and polyclinics within proximity. Residential districts comprise houses and apartment buildings.
