JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions. Under the strategic guidance of the Department of Operational Support (DOS), the Kuwait Joint Support Office provides efficient and client-oriented services with the goal of moving transactional, non-location dependent administrative functions from its client entities.
These include transactional elements of human resources, finance, travel and payroll. This position is located in the United Nations Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO). The incumbent will report to the Head of Unit under the general guidance of the Deputy Chief, KJSO.
Responsibilities
• Generate budgetary or financing reports, including statistical/financial data for tables, charts and spreadsheets using office software and templates.
• Assist in following up on recommendations to ensure complete remediation of controls concerns and lapses by line managers and process owners.
• Maintain regular contact with other relevant Units within and outside KJSO to clarify issues which concern financial and budget management and internal controls.
• Amend, re-arrange and edit statistical tables. Produces layouts of annexes to the budget and overview tables to conform to specification in the programme budget.
• Summarize, through statistical tables, proposals reflecting budgetary and programmatic changes, retrieving information from different updated tables from Umoja and compiles frequently updated reports.
• Perform any other duties as may be required.

Education
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent is required. Supplementary training in administration, finance, budget, accounting or related fields is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in finance, budget, audit, risk management, accounting, administrative services or related area is required.
The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to two (2) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Proficiency in Office Excel and Microsoft Word is required. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning applications, preferably SAP is desirable. Experience in the use of business intelligence (BI) software e.g., Microsoft Power BI, is desirable. Experience working in an international organization or similar system is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidate may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
